To the beach

Yesterday we hit a record high of 101 degree's, so the family packed a picnic and headed to the beach. Not the coastal beach, but a pond beach in town. We got there around 10:45 and it was pretty empty. After slathering on the sunscreen, D, who gravitates to water, ran to the sand and then into the water. The water was chilly, but it didn't matter to him - he's 3yo. Even when he was shivering he didn't want to get out to play in the sand. His favorite game was splash water on Daddy and watch him fall. D would splash water on Daddy and Daddy would leap into the air and land into the water with a flourish. Belly laughs ensued along with "Do again, Daddy".

My love for people watching was being fulfilled. Oh my! Really, clothing stores and manufacturers really really need to start making age and size restrictions on clothing. Bikini's - after a certain age, I believe that no matter how good of shape your body is in, you should not wear a bikini. They should also only come in certain sizes.... And why is it that women, no matter what bra size they are, have to cover up their breasts, but MEN can have large sagging breasts and just have them flopping about in the sunshine? I'm not saying that I'd be out there topless, but, men, if you have to lift your "pectorals" up to wipe sweat or apply sunscreen, perhaps you either need a bra or WEAR A SHIRT! In an era where we're all conscience that our population is getting larger (fatter), I was glad to see only a handful of overweight children. Maybe there is hope for Generation XXL.

We left the beach at 1:45 and the line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot was LONG. D fell asleep in the car almost immediately. Fun day and lots of sunshine. Hope to do it again soon.
